InSAR New Generation

چکیده

Synthetic Aperture Radar Interferometry (InSAR) is an established powerful technique for change detection. Its advantages include competitive spatial resolution, accuracy in milimeter-centimeter scale and spatial coverage. However, there are limitations in using it for detecting the Earth surface changes. Line-of-sight ambiguity (1-D displacement), temporal and geometrical decorrelation (slopes, unstable ground, large deformation gradients, vegetation, etc.) and low sensitivity to horizontal displacement parallel to platform’s flight trajectory are amongst the disadvantages.

Srtm and Beyond: Current Situation and New Developments in Spaceborne Insar

SAR interferometry (InSAR) has become one of the most powerful tools in radar remote sensing. Generation of digital elevation models, measurement of glacier flows and mapping of earthquakes, volcanoes and subsidence are the most prominent applications of InSAR. For most of these applications continuous acquisition of SAR data from space over many years, like with the ERS-1/2 or Radarsat, is ind...

Improvement of the Accuracy of InSAR Image Co-Registration Based On Tie Points – A Review

Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) is a new measurement technology, making use of the phase information contained in the Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images. InSAR has been recognized as a potential tool for the generation of digital elevation models (DEMs) and the measurement of ground surface deformations. However, many critical factors affect the quality of InSAR data and lim...

Optical and Radar Data Fusion for Dem Generation

This paper presents a DEM generation procedure based on optical (SPOT stereo) and radar (InSAR, interferometric SAR) data. The first part of the paper is focused on InSAR. The second one is concerned with the integration of optical and radar data. Two levels of integration are proposed: the SPOT data can support the InSAR procedure (in particular phase unwrapping) and the SPOT and InSAR data ca...

Digital elevation model generation from satellite interferometric synthetic aperture radar

An accurate digital elevation model (DEM) is a critical data set for characterizing the natural landscape, monitoring natural hazards, and georeferencing satellite imagery. The ideal interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) configuration for DEM production is a single-pass two-antenna system. Repeat-pass single-antenna satellite InSAR imagery, however, also can be used to produce useful...

QUALITY ASSESSMENT OF INTERFEROMETRIC SAR DEMs

A new interferometric SAR (InSAR) procedure for DEM generation was employed to generate different DEMs from ERS SAR image pairs. The procedure was validated comparing the InSAR DEMs with a suited reference DEM. In the first part of the paper the principal features of the procedure are briefly summarised. The second part is focused on the quality assessment of the InSAR DEMs. They cover the same...
